Sometimes when I’m at 3D Nails (my go-to nail salon) flipping through nail mags and scrolling through the nail art bible that is Instagram, a thought will just appear – how am I gonna pull these pretty nails off at work? You know, when you see the super blinged out nails with gigantic crystals and elaborate nail art… And you’re just like ‘I cannot wear that to work it’s so outrageous!’
So sometimes work comes first when it comes to nails, so you might want cute nails but (and it’s a big but) you also want a pretty manicure that you can wear confidently at work.

The recent Totoro and Sakura nail art I did at 3D Nails (Blk 132 Jurong Gateway Road, #01-27, Singapore 600132) totally fits the bill.

IMG_1219
The light grey Totoro is adorable and just the right amount of eye-catching, while also subtle because it only covers half the nail while the rest of the nail is clear. As for the remaining fingers, they are all a lovely work-friendly, yet kawaii pink! The sakura flowers adds a nice feminine touch and I especially love the big glitter which reminds me of sakura petals falling in the early spring in Japan.

Here’s a close up!

I think when it comes to work-appropriate nails, I’ld recommend going for neutral, natural tones like grey, peach, and pink. Add a hint of glitter and floral nail art and it’ll be attractive enough for people to check out your cute nails while at the same time remain not so loud so you don’t have to hide your nails from every person.

So if you are contemplating getting a fresh manicure done, head over to 3D Nails. They’re super professional, patient and attentive to detail. Make an appointment as they can get quite busy by giving them a ring (Tel: 6563 0538) and catch up on their latest nail promotions + more on their social media! (www.facebook.com/3DNailssg

If you’re keen on getting the same nail art done, or just want a gauge of the prices, here’s a breakdown of my manicure and pedicure:

First I did the nail gel treatment. This is to ensure your nails stay healthy and gorgeous even after getting gel nails done. There’s no point in ruining your nails for beauty!

Gel Treatment – $12

The gel nail treatment was followed by the gel mani aka the zen time where I stop using my phone for a couple of hours and just relaaaax.

Gel Manicure – $38

Then came the EXCITING part omg. The nail art! Whoo I simply love seeing masterpieces unfold on my nails. Especially after having planned what kind of nail art I’m gonna get!

Nail Art – $45

Afterwards comes my absolute favourite part – getting a pedicure in my fav normal nail colour, OPI Malaga Wine. Scrub all those dead skin cells off my feet, please. (But not too hard ‘cos I’m super ticklish)

Pedicure – $28

Just in case you’re not so into Japanese-y kind of nail art, I’ve taken a picture of the other pretty nail art designs available at 3D Nails so you can make an informed decision! I hear that the cat’s eyes nails are pretty popular and trendy at the moment!! It’s super eye-catching and so pretty in real life.

Here’s a marble nails manicure by 3D Nails you wouldn’t be able to resist!

Surf the Internet and you’ll find countless marble nails usually paired with a shiny gold and matte black polish for an expensive look.

To switch things up and move away from the typical white marble nail art designs, I wanted to create something more feminine and more “me”.

My manicurist, Janet from 3D Nails, helped to select the perfect colours for me. She chose a brand new gel colour that I absolutely love! So much so it looks perfect without any embellishments. The colour is wonderfully opaque and glossy, and it’s an unusual bright magenta shade – a colour situated between a bright pink and a bright purple. There’s no hint of dullness to the colour and it’s pretty unique! It’s a beautiful floral shade perfect for this season, and reminds me of Singapore’s national flower – the orchid.

As for the marble design itself, Janet added an out of this world, galaxy-like coat of purple glitter on top of my purple and white marble nails. For the final layer, she added in a silver foil to add a really reflective pop of shiny silver to my white marble nails to take it to the next level.

When light falls on my nails, the silver foil and soft, subtle purple glitter really glisten in the light to give a starry, glittery effect.

What I love about 3D Nails is their professionalism, creativity and ability to turn my dream nail designs into reality!

If you are into girly, feminine nails but want to try something new and different for a change, go for this! The great thing about this manicure is that you can pretty much change the colours to whatever colour you like best.

And last but not least, my fav part of this whole manicure is the pearl bow! This cute accessory is so eye-catching with its 3D shape and I love how the white contrasts so gorgeously with the magenta nails. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on how cute my nails are because of the bow!

If you need even more reasons to go check out 3D Nails, this month they’re running a few promotions:

1. Get 20% off all nail art when you quote my name, Rachel! But please note this promotion isn’t in conjunction with the other ongoing promotions.

Spring has officially sprung – and what better way to celebrate the season then with some gorgeous pastel nails.

This month, I got my nails done at 3D Nails @ Jurong East! (Scroll to the end of this post for the address and contact details!)

My nails this month are a combination of robin’s egg blue and a beautiful lilac/pastel pink colour. While the nail designs are similar, I wanted to shake things up with a mismatched yet complementary nail colour. The pastel hues really complimented my skin tone and I think they’ll look amazing on any skin tone.

In keeping with current Japanese nail art trend, I got some big, brand new crystals (4 on each thumb!) that 3D Nails just ordered. Each individual crystal is a different colour which I love. One is turquoise coloured, two opal coloured stones, and another super sparkly, diamond-like crystal!

And the crystals were applied so skillfully with acrylic, I was amazed they have managed to survive on my nails this long! It’s been three weeks + since I got my gel manicure done at 3D Nails.

For my accent nail (the third finger of both hands), I tried out hard gel for the first time in my life. Phew! The effect was super blinded out, super gel-like nails! The effect is holographic and trendy, it’s really cool and my first time trying out this style.

Also, for the first time, I tried a hand mask at 3D Nails! For March, it’s just $7 to do the hand mask (feels amazing and frankly so affordable if you wanna pamper yourself) The effect was a really cooling sensation, which it left my arms feeling tighter, smoother, and also brighter!

For a rough estimate of the prices at 3D Nails, here’s a breakdown of my March mani:
For the gel manicure it was $38, for the gel treatment it was $6, and for the nail art it was $30.

Do you like my new Japanese print-inspired nails? I got them done at 3D Nails just in time for my trip to Hokkaido, Japan!

This was my first time visiting 3D Nails and I was super excited to try out this relatively new salon, located right next to JCube and super close to Jurong East MRT Station!

I love these orange flowers that my manicurist at 3D Nails did! It’s super pretty and it’s gotten me plenty of compliments. They remind me of the flower-shaped carrots my mum often cooks! :X

3D Nails have a lot of different ongoing promotions that are actually really worth getting, and the nail technicians at 3D Nails are very thoughtful and service oriented.

I thought it would be good to share my first time experience at 3D Nails for curious readers!

First of all, it isn’t that easy to find a great and reliable manicurist, but 3D Nails is really all of those things, and their service is really commendable.

If you have pretty weak nails like me, and also get manicures done quite frequently, do check out the vitamin-infused gel treatment at 3D Nails. It’s an additional $12 but the treatment goes a long way in ensuring you have healthy nails even when getting a gel manicure to go!

My manicurist also explained more about their services to me. As for what they use for their classic gel manicure which I got done at 3D Nails, they will use a primer, followed by a base coat and a top coat.

3D Nails 3D Nails
Good quality Orly gel polishes are used, and as for the process of drying each coat of polish, 3D Nails use Gelish! It’s a relief to see them use trustworthy brands, cos I always get a little nervous putting my hands into very hot and foreign-looking machines with no names branded on the machine.

Now that I’ve been to 3D Nails, I don’t have to worry about questionable gel manicure quality and putting my fingers at risk whenever I get a gel manicure or pedicure done.

For the month of June, 3D Nails have several GSS Promotions. So if you’re thinking of getting your nails done this weekend, here’s your chance!

Classic Gel Mani Promo (Valid until 30 June 2016)
Their classic gel mani is usually $58, but with this month’s promo, it’s $30 inclusive of the soak-off for the next visit!

3D Nails
Classic Gel Pedi Promo (Valid until 30 June 2016)
The usual price for the classic gel pedicure at 3D Nails is $78, but it’s been slashed to just $45 for the month of June! This is a great steal.

Nail Art Promo (Valid until 30 June 2016)
This month’s promotion is $30 + $25 for this month’s nail art. Here are the designs for the month of June!

3D Nails
You can also choose which colours you want for the nail art, it doesn’t have to be exactly the same as in the picture!

My favourite is the flowers, it’s so detailed and perfect! 3D Nails are really good with nail art, especially floral patterns and lines, and they pay a lot of attention to the fine details.

Recently, I visited brand new Vivo City nail salon, Palette Nail for a classic manipedi session.

They just opened their second outlet at Harbourfront earlier this month. The classic manicure and pedicure normally retails at Palette Nail for S$65.00, but they’re currently having a grand opening promotion! The classic mani pedi is now just S$55.00. Totally worth getting!

For my nails, I decided on a nude, ballerina pink kind of colour from OPI (I forgot to check the name with the manicurist, oops!) while for my toes, I got them in my favourite vibrant, red nail colour – OPI’s glamorous Big Apple Red.

I also decided on getting 30 sparkling crystals for my fingernails (S$1.00 for the smaller Swarovski-esque crystals, the other types of crystals have different prices, so do check first with the manicurist!) and my holy grail top coat, Seche Vite Quick Dry topcoat (retails at S$3.00 for hands and S$3.00 for feet) for longer lasting and more durable nail polish, and to give your nails a more expensive and glossier appearance.

Location

This local nail salon just opened on the 1st of November 2015 at Vivo City. Its first store is located at the Star Vista in Buona Vista. Located on Level 2 of Vivo City, Palette Nail is pretty easy to find if you follow the directions on any of the shopping mall’s touch screen street directories dotted all over the vast shopping centre.

The store faces well known Asian beauty store, Sasa, and is on the same side as Build-A-Bear! It is also in close proximity to the drop-off point at Vivo City, so if you’re taking a cab, just turn left when you enter the building and you’ll see Palette Nail!

Palette Nail

The Experience

The Vivo City nail salon is extremely new, clean, and tidy.

With spotlights, grey and slate coloured walls and wallpaper, and black and white furniture, Palette Nail has a very unique colour scheme from the atypical pink, overly feminine and floral interiors of most nail salons. I would imagine that male customers would not be deterred from getting their nails done here! Which is a good thing – what’s wrong with men getting their nails, feet, and cuticles taken care of once in a while, right? Men can get monthly MANicures too!

When I was choosing my design, I found that there were so many Christmas studs and stones to choose from, and even a cute 3D snowflake crystal was available! Beautiful seashells are available as well in gold and silver, in many different sizes – which I imagine would go really well with a mermaid-themed gel manicure – glittery, shimmery, gradient, in shades of sea green, purplish jewel tones, or bright blue.

With my manicure, I felt that the nail technician did an overall pretty good job cutting and buffing my nails!

I was however, really blown away and satisfied with my Classic pedicure at Palette Nail. The nail technician did a wonderful job with my toenails – she was dedicated, undistracted, meticulous, and put in tons of effort! After my awesome pedicure session at Palette Nail, my feet felt extremely clean, and soft. I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the fantastic leg massage, and the mint scrub which left my legs feeling incredibly smooth and smelling fresh!

Cons

While there was a good range of reds and nudes, there were few glittery and pastel options to choose from.  I would have also liked for there to be some nail magazines for me to browse through to help me decide what nail art or design to get!

Conclusion

On the whole, I really enjoyed my lovely session at Palette Nail and felt super pampered by the lovely nail technicians! As you can see, my nails look pretty fab! 28 out of 30 of the crystals on my nails have also survived after 2 weeks! My nails are also still looking great and shiny and haven’t even chipped! Anyway, who doesn’t love having someone attending to their hands and feet?! I would definitely come back again, and recommend Palette Nail for their dedicated manicure pedicure service! So please do make an appointment with them at their brand new Vivo City branch and treat yourself to a much needed classic manipedi!
